Base64 Encode/Decode
Encode text to Base64 or decode Base64 back to text. Unicode-safe, with a URL-safe option.
Processed in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.
Text is converted as UTF-8, so emoji and non-Latin scripts round-trip correctly.
How to use it
- Choose encode or decode.
- Paste your text or Base64 string.
- For encoding, optionally choose the URL-safe variant.
- Copy the result.
Example
- Encode text
- Input:hello
- Result:aGVsbG8=
What does Base64 Encode/Decode do?
Base64 Encode/Decode converts text to Base64 and back, including emoji and non-Latin scripts, with a URL-safe option.
How does Base64 Encode/Decode work?
Text is converted to UTF-8 bytes and encoded with the js-base64 library, and decoding checks the alphabet, padding and UTF-8 validity. Everything runs in your browser.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Your text is converted in your browser and is never sent anywhere.
Which formats and inputs does Base64 Encode/Decode support?
Inputs: Text to encode, or a standard or URL-safe Base64 string to decode. Output: The encoded Base64 string, or the decoded text.
What are the limits and limitations of Base64 Encode/Decode?
Limits: maximum input 5,000,000 characters; tested with 10,000 mixed Unicode characters. Decoded bytes that are not valid UTF-8 text, such as an image, are reported as an error.
More questions
Does it handle emoji and non-Latin text?
Yes. Text is converted as UTF-8 before encoding, so it round-trips losslessly.
